Olympics 2024 Live Updates: Egypt's Olympic committee says Tokyo bronze medal-winning wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed will be investigated by the sport's governing body for an alleged groping incident in Paris.
French prosecutors said Friday it had arrested a 26-year-old Olympic wrestler from Egypt on sexual assault charges. The athlete, who was not named by prosecutors, was detained early Friday after allegedly groping a woman from behind outside a Paris cafe, according to a statement from the Paris prosecutor's office.

There are the regulations of the International Federation that have to be followed and the International Federation, United World Wrestling was taking this decision...Looking at the federation or everybody who has to make such a decision then when and where do you make the cut? Do you say with 100 grams we give it, but with 102 grams we don't give it anymore?... Now it's in CAS, we will in the end follow the CAS decision. But again, the International Federation, they have to apply and interpret their rules. So this is their responsibility."

To exclude two women from taking part in a women's competition because of allegations of totally incredible...We had so-called sex tests until 1999, and then science told us that they were not reliable anymore, that it does not work as they used to work with regard tothe chromosomes and other measurements. We were also told that these kinds of tests are and can be against human rights because there are two intrusive. Then the new system was developed in great agreement with everybody. And I think this is since 1999or 2000 that this system has been working. Therefore, our decision is very clear. Women must be allowed to take part in women's-competitions.
